QA project portfolio

Quality assurance built around real users

Over more than 20 years in software quality assurance, I have tested complex web, mobile, and desktop applications across public transport, healthcare technology, financial services, SaaS, and e-commerce.

My work combines structured manual testing, exploratory testing, test planning, API testing, and end-to-end automation. I focus not only on whether software meets its technical requirements, but also on whether it supports a clear, reliable, and intuitive user journey.

The following projects represent selected highlights from my QA career.

Yatta Checkout and NVV Mobil

SaaS, e-commerce, public transport, and test automation

For Yatta Solutions, I have contributed to the quality assurance of Yatta Checkout, a configurable platform supporting checkout, customer-account, payment, licensing, and subscription workflows.

One significant implementation is the checkout used by the NVV Mobil application. As lead tester for the introduction of the Deutschlandticket within NVV Mobil, I was responsible for testing a nationally significant ticketing product built on the Yatta Checkout platform.

The project combined reusable platform functionality with transport-specific requirements, including passenger onboarding, payment processing, ticket management, pricing, and complex validity rules.

Key contributions

  • Led testing activities for the Deutschlandticket launch within NVV Mobil

  • Tested customer-facing checkout, account, authentication, payment, and licensing workflows

  • Planned and executed functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing

  • Verified transport-specific fare and ticket-validity rules

  • Tested interactions between mobile applications, web interfaces, APIs, and administrative systems

  • Designed and implemented end-to-end tests using Playwright and TypeScript

  • Integrated automated tests with GitHub and CI/CD workflows

  • Created reusable test structures, fixtures, and helper functions

  • Investigated failures across application, network, and deployment layers

  • Worked closely with developers, product owners, and other project stakeholders

Project value

My work supported the successful introduction of the Deutschlandticket within NVV Mobil while also strengthening the quality and automated regression coverage of the underlying Yatta Checkout platform.

exocad and Align Technology

Regulated dental CAD software

From 2016 to 2024, I worked on the quality assurance of sophisticated dental CAD applications at exocad and, following its acquisition, Align Technology.

The software supported complex professional workflows and operated within a regulated environment. Testing therefore required a particularly systematic approach, strong attention to detail, and clear, traceable documentation.

Key contributions

  • Tested complex desktop software used by dental laboratories and clinical professionals

  • Designed and executed functional, regression, integration, and exploratory tests

  • Verified intricate workflows involving 3D dental design and manufacturing processes

  • Worked within established quality-management and regulated-development processes

  • Documented defects clearly and reproducibly for international development teams

  • Collaborated with developers, product specialists, technical writers, and other QA engineers

  • Assessed both technical correctness and the usability of specialist workflows

  • Contributed to release testing across multiple product versions

Project value

My work helped maintain the reliability and usability of specialist software on which dental professionals depend for complex, accuracy-critical workflows.

NetDev, Brighton

QA management and team leadership

For two years, I served as QA Manager at NetDev in Brighton, combining hands-on testing with responsibility for coordinating quality assurance activities across software projects.

The role broadened my experience beyond test execution to include QA planning, prioritization, team coordination, and communication between technical and business stakeholders.

Key contributions

  • Managed and coordinated day-to-day QA activities

  • Planned testing across concurrent development projects

  • Assigned priorities and balanced testing effort against release requirements

  • Supported and guided members of the QA team

  • Established consistent approaches to test planning, execution, and defect reporting

  • Worked closely with developers, project managers, and business stakeholders

  • Assessed release readiness and communicated quality risks

  • Remained actively involved in hands-on functional and exploratory testing

Project value

The role strengthened quality ownership across the development process and gave project stakeholders clearer visibility of testing progress, release risks, and overall product readiness.

Additional QA engagements

My wider project experience includes web, mobile, desktop, and SaaS applications in financial services, enterprise software, public transport, and other business-critical environments.

Depending on the project, my responsibilities have included:

  • QA strategy and test planning

  • Manual functional and regression testing

  • Exploratory and risk-based testing

  • Mobile and cross-browser testing

  • REST API testing

  • End-to-end test automation

  • CI/CD integration

  • Defect analysis and reporting

  • Requirements and acceptance-criteria reviews

  • Release-readiness assessment

  • Usability and user-journey evaluation

  • Collaboration with distributed and international teams

My approach

Effective QA is not simply a matter of checking whether requirements have been implemented. It means understanding the product, anticipating how people will actually use it, and identifying the situations in which technology may fail them.

I bring together extensive hands-on testing experience, technical understanding, and a strong focus on usability. Whether I am joining an established QA team, leading testing for a release, or introducing practical automation, my objective remains the same: to help deliver software that users can trust.
